Friendship Nations Group

The micronational group known as the Friendship Nations Group was established on 14 January 2025 by the State of Samizdat. The group encourages cultural exchanges, visibility, mutual recognition and diplomacy among its members. The Friendship Nations Group organises online sporting events, including the friendship games, a virtual football league, quizzes, virtual bowling, musical events, and art exhibitions, all of which take place on the Discord server of the State of Samizdat.

History

The FNG was established in 2025, though many of the events were first organised in 2024. The original intention of the founder of the Friendship Nations Group was to create an events group for the sole purpose of joining GUM as an observer organisation. However, when this idea was rejected by the group, the founder decided to continue with the project and extend it to include diplomatic initiatives, micronational trade, and a micronational development and progress index.

Trouble shooting

Over the years this group has faced many challenges that have been contained successfully by the group organiser. The most notorious incident involved the hacking of the group’s Discord server in October 2025, from which the group quickly recovered after opening a new server. At the beginning of 2026, a group of trolls were expelled from the FNG following bomb threats and a declaration of war against the group after unsuccessfully attempting to establish a “court” within the FNG.

More recently, two radical anti-AI agitators left the group and then hijacked the FNG wiki, posting false and misleading information about the group. The incident led the group organiser to disassociate the Friendship Nations Group from the original (now defunct) wiki page and to the creation of an alternative wiki, which offers micronational group members a ‘sovereign guarantee’ that safeguards their wikis against third-party disinformation and unauthorised modifications.

Future

The Friendship Nations Group is celebrating its first summit in September 2026, in which the group organiser hopes many of its members will participate. The virtual summit will essentially be an opportunity for members of the FNG to showcase their micronations and participate in diplomacy with other members of the group. The event will be celebrated in the group’s Discord server between 21 and 25 of September 2026.

The future for this independent micronational group looks promising. Having successfully established a safe digital environment where group members feel comfortable away from toxic influences, the Friendship Nations Group can now concentrate on developing member micronations through cultural events and other initiatives that will lead to successful projects.
